Worry not, friend. We’ve got you covered. The three orcas here (Rumi, Mira, and Zoey) were designed to match the saddle and eye patches of individuals from K Pod.
K Pod is one of three Southern Resident Killer Whale pods that frequent the Salish Sea. SRKWs are genetically and culturally distinct from other orcas. Their populations were decimated in the ’60s and ’70s from live capture by marine parks like Sea World. Their strict fish-only diet combined with salmon habitat degradation has pushed SRKW populations to the brink of extinction. Of the three pods, K Pod is the smallest with only 15 individuals as of 2025.
